FAST CAR, 2007-8

Forty photomontages form an allegory about encounters. Each montage contains four parallel narrative sequences: (1) passenger window: tourists encounter indigenous tribes of the Ifugao Terraces in northern Philippines, as captured in public snapshots on Flickr; (2) rearview mirror: the kiss from Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo", 1958; (3) side mirror: earth morphs into the Death Star from George Lucas' "Star Wars" series, 1977+; (4) Cadillac car as unchanging Western framing device.

Published in Intimate, Shifter Vol. 11, 2008, Editors Sreshta Premnath and Steven Lam; Supported in part by Vermont Studio Center Fellowship
